Your Home Deserves the Durability of Nylon Carpet Fiber

Here’s a Traditional Feel That Never Goes Out of Style

Nylon

DEFINITION: Fiber–forming substance of any long–chain, synthetic polyamide having recurring amide groups as an integral part of the polymer chain. First used in 1959 in carpet. Offered as BCF or staple. Used in residential and commercial applications. Produced as a solution–dyed fiber or white yarn to–be–dyed. Accounts for 65% of all face fibers in carpet.

A good track record can go a long way. Thanks to the ability to withstand heavy foot traffic while retaining brilliant appearance, Nylon carpets have long been keeping homes beautiful and remain a popular choice when it comes to uplifting households today.

At Mohawk, Wear–Dated carpet is our premium nylon fiber, a tremendous combination of luxury and function.

The fiber design itself allows for an immense amount of dyeability, meaning we can offer our friezes, cut–loop piles, shag or Saxony in a wide array of colors and shades.

In addition to lending resiliency for the most traveled areas of the house including hallways, dens, and family rooms, the tightly woven nylon fibers also provide for easy clean–ups in kitchens and dining rooms as well.

There’s good reason that these fibers have been a hit for the past 50 years.

By absorbing the wear–and–tear without letting it show, Nylon carpeting has earned the trust of consumers everywhere and will continue to deliver under pressure.

PET Polyester Carpet Fibers Offer You Value & Peformance

Giving Your Home Superior Carpeting Doesn’t Have To Break the Bank

PET Polyester

DEFINITION: Fiber–forming substance of any long–chain, synthetic polyamide having recurring amide groups as an integral part of the polymer chain. First used in 1959 in carpet. Offered as BCF or staple. Used in residential and commercial applications. Produced as a solution–dyed fiber or white yarn to–be–dyed. Accounts for 65% of all face fibers in carpet.

As you explore the charactersitics of different carpet fibers, you just might find that PET Polyester is the excellent balance of qualities you’re looking for: a well–rounded mix of durability, color, and savings, your search could very well end here.

Unlike polyester carpets of old, PET fibers are stronger with natural and permanent stain resistance.

PET’s higher melting point also makes these fibers resistant to abrasion as well, making it as durable as it is easy to clean.

To sweeten the deal even more, our EverStrand Carpet is made from recycled plastic bottles, 100% post–consumer recycled content.

Utilizing recycled plastic chips does not affect the fiber quality, so every fiber has the potential to become a future product thus continuing the life of the renewable resource.

You no longer have to choose between what you want and being responsible. By reusing PET polyester, together as producer and consumer, we can lead innovations that benefit our planet as much as they do our households.

  • Color clarity
  • Colorfastness
  • Resistant to water–soluble stains
  • Noted for luxurious "hand"
  • Offered primarily as a staple product, although some BCF is being produced
  • 100% of Mohawk’s Staple Polyester is manufactured from recycled plastic bottles

Luxurious Triexta PTT Carpet Fiber Represent a New Generation of Polymer...

And Our Commitment To Giving You the Best Technology Available

Triexta PTT Fiber

DEFINITION: A completely new form of carpeting fiber made from the combination of 1.3 propanediol (PDO) and terephthalic acid (TPA). Triexta PTT properties are derived from a unique semi–crystalline molecular structure. Used currently in residential applications and as BCF.

Recognized by the Federal Trade Commission as a unique fiber subclass, Triexta has demonstrated characteristics previously never seen in the carpeting world.

A spring–like molecular structure provides our SmartStrand carpet incredible resiliency in addition to stain resistance engineered into the fiber itself. As a result of not having a topical chemical treatment, PTT brings a remarkable softness and natural sensability as well.

This structure also translates to the time–saving cleanability factor as Triexta drys faster than nylon carpet fibers. And with a household full of responsibilities, it’s nice to know that some chores can be effectively minimized.

Triexta’s exceptional abilities extend to outstanding colorfastness as well; SmartStrand is continuously praised for its resistance to fading from UV light, sunlight, and ozone.

SmartStrand® with DuPont Sorona™ represents the most advanced technology in carpeting over the last 20 years. Soft enough for your bedroom, durable enough for your living room, look no further for your home’s perfect finishing touch.

  • Permanent, built–in stain protection
  • Wear–resistant
  • Ease of maintenance
  • Luxurious softness
  • Quick–drying
  • Currently used in residential applications and as BCF

Olefin Carpet Fibers Can Handle Humidity & Moisture Like No Other...

So There’s No Reason To Sweat If the Carpet Gets Wet!

Olefin or Polypropylene

DEFINITION: Fiber–forming substance of any long–chain synthetic polymer composed of at least 85%, by weight, of ethylene, propylene, or other olefin units. Offered primarily as BCF with some staple product available. Primarily sold as solution–dyed or pre–dyed fiber. Can be engineered for outdoor applications.

Certain areas of your home may require more strategic planning when it comes to floor coverings. Basements, rec rooms, and screened–in patios typically endure more wet, damp conditions than other rooms and face greater activity from pets.

The greatest strength of Olefin carpet fibers is in fact, well, strength. It doesn’t make a bit of difference whether the carpet is exposed to wet or dry conditions, the fibers remain strong and equally resilient in either setting.

In addition to low moisture absorption properties, Olefin is stain, mildew, abrasion, chemical and sunlight resistant. While these carpet fibers may not represent the largest selection of colors, they do boast an extremely impressive colorfastness that will last for years.

We wish we could offer you more products with the resistant abilities of Olefin like your favorite shirt or the seats in your car for starters.

We’ll get started on those developments for you and until then, at least you can protect something with a larger surface area — like your home!
